A small number of US pilots defied neutrality laws to fight Nazi Germany during the Battle of Britain. Olympian Billy Fiske was one of these heroes. On 16 Aug 1940, Fiske's Hurricane was hit. He died the next day. He was the first American pilot to be killed in the war.

Something that blew my mind when I started flying jets; how much extra fuel we needed to burn to carry extra fuel. An increase in weight, including fuel, increases the fuel needed to fly it around. On my last relatively short flight an extra 10 minutes of fuel would have increased my burn by 200kg.

Too much energy during the approach, hence a long float in the flare, barely touches down, hence no spoilers... At no point any attempt to go around. 🧐

Re: amazon Boeing 767 at MIA: Note how at one point during the approach, both airspeed and altitude has increased, so total energy increased. That requires a significant amount of thrust. That is, obviously, strange, during approach.

X Kills Nitter And Xcancel, The Last Ways To Read Tweets Without Elon Watching
When Twitter launched, it was originally designed to be just like an open protocol. In the early days, the company eagerly supported third party development, building on that protocol. But, because it was a new communications protocol totally controlled by a single company, eventually commercial pressure led the company to close off the openness. Jack...

When ATC puts a plane in a holding pattern they have to give them an idea how long they’ll be flying in circles. This is the “expect further clearance” time; EFC. In this case, the EFC exceeds the amount of fuel they have left. Maybe the EFC will improve, but they’re looking at diversion options.

I believe DFW-SYD remains weight-restricted on the A380. No surprise that swapping to a plane which can handle the range and loads would boost margins. A380s are amazing, but also fit a very niche spot of capacity and range, and Qantas uses them for several routes outside that sweet spot.
