#avgeek explainer Airplanes burn more fuel the heavier they are, including the weight of the fuel. It’s one of the reasons we don’t carry much more fuel than what we need. However, sometimes an airport has a deal on gas and we tanker extra, because even with the extra burn it’s worth the cost.

Just getting up to stretch after oceanic entry. I was at the controls on the way over to LHR, so I got the radios and clipboard for the way back. Sometimes paper is still simpler to use. (the cup is empty - btw - even with a lid I’m not leaving a cup of tea unattended on the tray table) #avgeek

Don’t vape onboard. 1- it’s inconsiderate 2- it’s against the rules 3- the smoke detectors can’t differentiate between vaping and smoke. Bells and lights go off. We get an alarm in the cockpit telling us there’s smoke in the cabin. It’s very distracting and noisy.
