At times, it's difficult to explain to others why we did (or want to do) things in a certain way. Other times we need some inspiration. In either case, you'll find this Software Engineering Radio interview with @milanmilanovic.bsky.social an excellent starting point se-radio.net/2026/09/se-r....

When I say that modularity & composability are now crucial as large, coupled codebases consume more context, I see raised eyebrows. Meanwhile, they are constantly running out of tokens while I haven't hit a usage limit in months. If you think architecture no longer matters, joke’s on you.

Communicating in natural languages is a lossy process. Bad things can happen when the receiver misinterprets the sender's intent. Ditto when communicating with LLMs. We need a way to know with high confidence if it's grabbed the wrong end of the stick. codemanship.wordpress.com/2026/05/07/c...

The thing about science is we set up hypotheses and then work to break, or disprove hypotheses. In so much LLM refinement, we are working backwards and building systems that predict *what we want to believe*. This is how nations go to war. This is how we corrupt science. There are better ways.

Continuous Integration is not only about the code, but integrating the drifts in the mental model of the system across the team (making it shared) as often as possible. It's also way better if the mental model is integrated even before the code on the main branch is (pair/mob programming).
