If you always choose the defensive side consistently, then after the 19th century you'd have a strong bias to support imperialism and /or colonialism because of what the world looked like. Some of that is still the case today, so sometimes you end up with support of imperialism intentionally or not.

If France invades Viet Nam people side with Viet Nam, if Viet Nam invades France they side with France. Where it gets baby-brained is people's behaviour in the scenario of France owning half of Viet Nam, but because Viet Nam in that sense "invades France" for that land they'd be the attacking side.

Before Shogun 2 people still were able to unlock all factions by modding in Empire or Napoleon, after Shogun 2 Creative Assembly leaned very hard into it pay-walling more & more factions in "culture packs" for Rome 2.

Shogun 2 back in 2011 started faction-DLC as a thing in the Total War series. Creative Assembly banned people from modding specific factions they would then paywall as DLC even though they come with the game you already purchased. Most people I interacted with defended this stupid practice back then

I've started seeing people point out that Shogun 2 TW Remaster will contain more playable factions, which means you'll pay to play factions which were originally unlocked by mod if you have the original release of the game. Which is insane as a criticism. Goldfish-memory ass critique.

Just cause I had to think about it just now: Bias in depictions of Switzerland goes hand-in-hand with bias in the depiction of Germany and other countries like Poland. If media depictions of Switzerland were true to its history you'd get a lot more stuff with wars, witch hunts, enslavement etc.
