NO. DO NOT DO THIS. Do NOT think about The Event and under NO circumstances attempt to relive The Event. This may cause DISTRESS and CONFUSION. REMAIN INDOORS.
A double decker London bus with a poster on the side of it, saying “Relive the Event”. The poster is advertising Disney+ and the event in question is the Oasis reunion tour.

Christ. It's bad enough that the US regularly murders prisoners, but the way it regularly tortures them to death with this pseudo-medical barbarism makes me want to vomit.

Agreed, but the problem is tarmac isn't suitable for walkers, and apart from greenways Ireland has very few waymarked paths, and no right to roam.

Ireland, where the solution to everything is 'shlap a bitta tarmac on it, bhoy'
Another ribbon of tarmac - which doesn't benefit walkers. At all.

A man stands at the ticket counter of a movie theater. An employee asks if he’d like to upgrade his ticket. “Would you like to upgrade to Cinema VIP? You can pause the film for bathroom breaks.” Our man is intrigued by the offer. Next slide. Inside the movie theater. The film has been paused and the movie screen lets the audience know: “PAUSED FOR VIP.” Our man stands at the center of the theater with his hands raised and a VIP badge attached to a lanyard around his neck. He’s part of the Cinema VIP program but at what cost? The other patrons have become increasingly upset with the pauses. A chorus of angry voices rain down on the VIP from around the theater. “Sit down, toilet boy,” one woman yells. She’s had enough of his potty breaks. “Oh COME on.” “Get this guy outta here.” “He ruined the trailers, too.” “Take his badge.” “3 times?!” “Put a diaper on.”

This was done under pressure from Mary Whitehouse. In the 1970s, she had pressured ATV to do something similar (a white genlock square from the same source as the cue dot for adverts). In both cases, it drew extra viewers, sometimes doubling audiences, because of course it would. Daft old bat.

They need to read up on Asquith and Ireland. The parallels are hard to ignore: a downward spiral into violent domestic unrest largely created by a cabinet wholly unwilling to take action. And we all know that we're still living with the consequences.

Margaret and I were in Scotland last week and seeing a Church that was still a Church was a rarity. From what I'm seeing the Kirk is massively in retreat everywhere, while the small and enthusiastic missional SEC for central Fife I attend on holiday is holding its own.

They are horrors. The poison of the press is percolating through G B News and into the FB feeds of their target audience. The UK may well get far worse before the hard of thinking cop themselves on.

For an industry that is apparently dying on its ar*e it still holds a disproportionate amount of power in the UK's national conversation. I have huge affection for HM The King. William has a long way to go yet on that score.
