Today is the 117th consecutive day somewhere in the UK has recorded a temperature of 20°C or higher. The 11th of June was the last time we didn't reach this threshold. Fresher air comes in on Wednesday allowing temperatures to fall, and likely to stay just below 20°C.

Every year on 19 December, the famous Christmas lights at Mousehole in Cornwall are dimmed between 8 and 9pm, leaving just the Cross and Angels shining down across the village and out to sea.

If I had a pound for every time I made a to do list and them didn't do anything on the to do list, I'd have enough money to pay people to do all the things on all my to do lists.

Dear government, don’t send startling, high-pitched alerts about wildfires to ordinary people's phones. Send them to the CEOs of fossil fuel companies and make them impossible to switch off until they stop the destructive plunder that's contributing to climate change.

The private appropriation of public space continues apace #lime #bikes #nuisance #enshittification
An extraordinarily large collection of very tidy Lime bikes in Westminster. Clearly some operative has been out tidying them, as there are rows and rows (you'll need to zoom in). Collectively, they create a major obstacle for pedestrians who just want to get around. I'm all in favour of cycling, but not like this.

I win at Twiglets for today.
A double twiglet, slightly larger than normal. Looked delicious however was somewhat disappointing in mouth-feel as the excess size had clearly led to it hardening in the middle to something more like quartz than crispy spicy wholewheat snack. Oh well.
