A British farm has unveiled a giant pumpkin mosaic of Sir David Attenborough to celebrate the naturalist's 100th birthday. The mosaic broke the farm's own record for the world's largest squash mosaic. The record was confirmed by Guinness World Records at the unveiling of the artwork on Tuesday.

If you are or know someone looking to adopt a kitten in London, please get in touch. She's scared but nevertheless already very friendly and likes to sit on laps.

MEMORANDUM OPINION
Then-Attorney General Robert H. Jackson warned his fellow prosecutors long ago of the
danger of picking the person first and the crime second. “Therein is the most dangerous power of
the prosecutor: that he will pick people that he thinks he should get, rather than pick cases that
need to be prosecuted.” Robert H. Jackson, The Federal Prosecutor, 31 J. Crim. L. & Criminology

[If the king] does not regard his patrons – his days will diminish. [If the king] does not regard the scholar – his land will rebel against him. [If the king] pays mind to the fool – the land will defect." It goes on to address often‑infringed legal rights and economic privileges of citizens.

The first cuneiform text found after George Smith's decipherment of the Epic of Gilgamesh's Flood Tablet in 1872 was a literary text called šarru ana dīni lā iqūl, or 'The King Does Not Regard the Law'. 'The King Does Not Regard the Law' concerns rulers who act out in a state's self-interest:

In fairness it’s not like the consequences of having a mad king unilaterally take the country to war on a whim were so incredibly obvious that you could see it coming from the 18th and 19th centuries www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
“Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object,” a young representative named Abraham Lincoln wrote in 1848. This was “understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.” This quote, incidentally, is immortalized on the House’s website, if any members of Congress are looking for it.

Had the US been attacked - actually attacked (like 9/11/2001) - I am 100% NATO allies would again have rushed to aid and support the US. Allies are under no obligation - legal or moral - to aid the US when the US starts a war that is illegal, and is tantamount to strategic seppuku to boot.

If you want to guarantee success against authoritarianism, there is one more thing you must do: You must grow until at least 3.5% of the population is out in the streets protesting. That is the 3.5% rule.

‘3.5% rule’: The anti-Trump movement is nearing an important threshold
If you want to guarantee success against authoritarianism, research shows you need at least 3.5% of the country’s population on your side.
