Does Nick Fuentes' voice sound really old-fashioned to anyone else? Like even just putting aside the content of what he's saying, he always reminds me of like a WW2 radio announcer. I'm not sure if it's a deliberate affectation or just me being a foreigner who's not really familiar with his accent

In order to reduce sibling rivalry we've introduced the new baby as an essentially tragic figure who's crying all the time bc he can't eat all the delicious foods the toddler can eat. I think its working but this morning the toddler solemnly told me "baby cryin cus e can't eat pineapple... Or bugs"

Just heard a radio report refer to the Orange Order as "strong supporters of remaining in the United Kingdom" which, while not inaccurate per se certainly feels a little inadequate as a description

I think the weirdest part of this when it was happening was how many of them were saying stuff like "finally, women are getting a taste of what it's like to be judged about an aspect of their bodies they can't control!" Just living on a completely different plane of reality

My uncle told me a story about a particularly charismatic Catholic priest who ministered to Belfast dockworkers in the early 20C. Apparently 1 time he got them all so worked up that when he asked "do you reject Satan and all his works?" one of them yelled back "yeah, fuck the devil he's a bastard!"

Great example of how making Twitter into a reactionary echo chamber has weirdly backfired on a lot of its users by making them more and more out of touch. Most people I know who went to see the Odyssey weren't even aware Nyong'o was in it. It was only the "biggest talking point" to racists on X

Lupita Nyong'o's Helen of Troy has barely a few minutes of screen time, yet she became one of the biggest talking points in The Odyssey's marketing.

If the role is that small, was the casting meant to serve the story or generate headlines?

Good piece, but is this part really true? My impression was always that was how Kirk styled himself, but his audience was always older Republicans convinced they'd found someone who cut through to the young.
At the peak of his influence, Kirk was Maga's youth whisperer, able to generate viral clips tat extended the Republican party's reach.
