Anybody supporting the B4-16 ban, this is what you, as adults, will face (it is not just under-16s that will have to verify their age). It will breach S14 of the NZ Bill of Rights Act 1990, endanger isolated young ppl who find their communities online, and give big tech more access to your data.

Survivors of abuse in care hand-delivered flowers to Parliament. The flowers were picked from the grounds of hospitals and care residences that were sites of abuse, and marked 2 years since the damning findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry. My #cartoon today #NZpol #AbuseInCare #ChildWelfare
Cartoon. Title: “Survivors of Abuse in State Care” Then it says, “Flowers for the Minister” (Erica Stanford) Image shows a bunch of red flowers, tied with a black ribbon, and a card attached, “Still Waiting for Redress” The flowers bear the faces of children.

Maybe we should start an awareness campaign about NZ First candidates & why they "left" their previous party. For example, Michael Laws had his parliamentary secretary forge a signature to grant a contract to a company part owned by his wife. #nzpol
He started his Parliamentary career as National's MP for Hawke's Bay from 1990 to 1996, after which he joined NZ First.

He resigned from Parliament that year after it was found that his parliamentary secretary had forged a signature in the name of the non-existent "Antoinette Beck" to grant a poll contract to a company part owned by his wife.

The Employment Leave Bill is back from Select Committee. Here's a reminder of what it would mean for working people. #nzpol
NZCTU graphic on a red background about the Employment Leave Bill. Text reads: " Everyone needs time off work to spend with their loved ones. But the Employment Leave Bill will make getting leave harder for people who: work part-time, work on rotating rosters, have overtime rates, are on ACC leave, regularly pick up shifts, the Employment Leave Bill is not for us."

Her eye is glowing with a blue-white light. To the top left in greeny-white writing is the word 'Hinātore' in large capital letters. Under that, in smaller capitals are the words 'The First Light'. Under that it says: 'An immersive exhibition exploring Māori pūrākau through bioluminescence, maho toi, and Western science.' 🧵Hey lovely people. Big announcement today. We're launching an indie writing con based in Nelson New Zealand and Online in September & October 2026. So many awesome events, including in-person and online Tiny Moments workshops. beautifulwords.net
Short description: You're looking at an image of a sun drenched beach at low tide with a table featuring a typewriter on it in the foreground. The words Beautiful Words, An Indie Writing Con Based in Sunny Nelson, New Zealand & Online, 1 September - 10 October 2026 are superimposed over the sand and sky above the typewriter and table. Longer description. The table's covered in a red and white check table cloth, hand sewn and if you zoomed in you'd see that I am an anarchist who does not care about snipping loose threads. There's a cup of black tea in a vintage blue and white china cup, the sort your nan might have owned, and some biscuits on the saucer under the cup. They're an anzac biscuit and a fairy biscuit, which is essentially sprinkles on icing on a sweet bikkie. The typewriter on the table is green and quite stylish. This is a typewriter you could take to a fancy dinner and it wouldn't be out of place. There's also a small white tea pot on the table, a shell and a small purple vase with a wayward bit of greenery sticking out of it. In front of the table is a stool with a retro black and white cushion on it. Why is this table at the beach? Ask the batty author who lugged it there a month ago in a beach wagon and they won't quite be able to tell you. But you can definitely picture that author munching on a biscuit or ten while taking this picture. The beach is sprawling, the sky a brilliant clear blue and there are mountains in the background because it is New Zealand and those suckers lurk everywhere. The writing superimposed over the top is in orange and blue. The overall vibe is an author who's sorted a writing con for the past three months and isn't quite sure what sane is anymore. Why else would they lug a typewriter, a tea set, a teapot and biscuits to the beach? Maybe they need another one of those biscuits. They're rather delicious. Especially the anzac ones.
