Manchester City cheated Premier League rules, the Commission found. Did it also cheat HMRC? We've examined the decision and leaked Mancini documents. We think City likely failed to pay £12m in tax. There should be a criminal investigation. Thread:

The great thing about being a #r4today presenter is not only being paid vast sums of money but also having the ability to control the narrative. Thus the need for thousands of food banks is not news but any small threat to the wealth of presenters and their friends is.

James Orr knew that his privilege meant that he wouldn't be treated in the same way as Jason Arday. One only has to examine the way #r4today has treated the two to see that he was right.

I don't know why they don't devote the whole of #r4today to book/film/TV show promotion as it seems that's what presenters are happiest doing. 'Sod the news about the climate emergency-My mate's got a book coming out!' appears to be the order of the day.

A choice has been made by editors and presenters that the need for thousands of food banks to feed the working poor isn't news but promotion of 'The Great British Bake Off' is. That an unresolvable argument about what said 30 years ago is news but UK poverty isn't. #r4today

Choosing not to cover the rank hypocrisy of The Spectator (and others) regarding the Jason Arday/James Orr affair tells us about the circles that editors and presenters of #r4today move in. The ability to set the narrative is in the hands of those who seem to value their social standing above all.
