The White House rapid response team have not refuted anything. They have put forwards an implausible explanation to excuse the remarks Trump made but beyond that they have proved nothing. A much more likely reason is that Trump is increasingly confused and thus came out with this offensive rubbish.

He even gets that wrong. I'm 69 and I remember that 75 and 76 were indeed hot but 77 was definitely not. He also appears to be scientifically and historically ignorant of the way the climate changes. I suggest he does a bit of reading on the subject before he pontificates again.

The question never asked on #r4today is why the UK only needed about 35 food banks in 2010 but by the time the Tories left office in 2024 that number had grown into the thousands. One might think that presenters and editors were completely untouched/uninterested about hunger in the UK.

If #r4today presenters had the smallest knowledge/interest in science they might then grasp the enormity of what the climate emergency will involve in changes and cost to the world. They would then ask questions of politicians about mitigating measures. However they are more concerned about trivia.

Thanks to everybody involved in the Everton 10k this morning-Brilliantly organised plus great volunteers and wonderful spectators. Also got my best time of the year in the 23rd race I've taken part in and on my birthday. Unfortunately it didn't beat my personal best-That was in the last century!

I'm not a pacifist and my dad fought right through WWII in the RAF but politics has to be about the battle of ideas. I'm all for exposing Farage and co as the cowards and hypocrites they are regarding violence and violent rhetoric but I'm not going to go down the same path as them.

I still get the impression that #r4today editors and presenters are clueless about how much our current society is based on the assumption of a relatively stable climate. Virtually everything we have built (both physical and political) is about to change in radical ways for centuries to come.
