Bluesky should go back to invites, continue aggressive bot bans, create a Craigslist-style marketplace (since you’re more likely to buy/get services from a educated or good person on here than any other social network), and market this place like a walled garden protected from enshittification.

A catalog shot of the VT-100 features a white-on-black monichrome monitor, a black monitor inset in a white case, and a black keyboard frontispiece and keys over a white keyboard case, set in a 70s warm umber backshot. The text, barely visible, features various forms of graphics characters, fonts, double-height lines, and inverse video; the 'digital VT 100' slogan appears case right.

If you live in California, check out DROP. It's a free tool that lets you delete your personal data from hundreds of data brokers with ONE request @calprivacy.bsky.social privacy.ca.gov/drop #Privacy #DROP
What is DROP? The Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) is a new, free privacy tool from the State of California that helps you take more control of your personal data. With one DROP request, Californians can tell hundreds of data brokers to delete and not sell their personal information. What you should know: 1) Data brokers are businesses that gather and sell consumer information that the consumer didn’t give them directly. 2) You only need to register once. Starting August 1, 2026, data brokers are required to delete the information they have about you and any new information they obtain from you. 3) You can check the status of your request or update it. 4) DROP applies to the personal information data brokers have about you. It does not cover public records, information covered by other privacy laws, or information you provide directly to companies.

Not sure what to make of this: The Chapman Survey of American Fears has found "corrupt government officials" to be the #1 fear (out of 85) for 9 years running. It's wild that this consistently ranks above war, terrorism, and even "people I love dying." Not the same as most intense fear but still.
A horizontal bar chart titled “Top 10 American Fears of 2024” shows the percentage of Americans who are “afraid” or “very afraid” of each issue, based on the Chapman Survey of American Fears (sample: 1,008 respondents, margin of error ±4%).
	1.	Corrupt government officials – 65.2% (ranked #1 in 2023 as well).
	2.	People I love becoming seriously ill – 58.4% (up from #5 in 2023).
	3.	Cyberterrorism – 58.3% (up from #9).
	4.	People I love dying – 57.8% (up from #6).
	5.	Russia using nuclear weapons – 55.8% (down from #3).
	6.	Not having enough money for the future – 55.7% (up from #10).
	7.	U.S. becoming involved in another world war – 55.0% (down from #4).
	8.	North Korea using nuclear weapons – 55.0% (up from #12).
	9.	Terrorist attack – 52.7% (up from #16).
	10.	Biological warfare – 52.5% (down from #8).
