Horrendous. It's already hard enough to write a book, get an agent & sell a book. And now authors have to worry their unpublished mss are being fed into the stealing machine to generate blurbs, while real artists lose jobs in favor of AI-slop covers & the next gen of editors don't learn the trade.

Book Publishers Are Quietly Using More AI. Staff Are Revolting
Workers at three major publishing houses tell WIRED that LLMs are being used for publicity, cover art, back cover copy, and emails, as some execs push junior staff to champion the tech.

We’ve been having issues for a year now. Also Hive. Resortes to having it next to the boiler since it’s the only way it pairs. Defeats the purpose of having a thermostat you can move to different rooms. I wouldn’t buy a Hive again regardless of how useful the app is.

The big but hidden impact of the implosion of smaller regional universities is the pressure on research academics to prioritise teaching or switch to teaching contracts and abandon research as a frivolous pursuit in this financially unstable crisis. This will dramatically shrink future scholarship.

I’ll tell you what’s chilling, “At the heart of the British state”. No one company should be so enmeshed with state running of things that it can wield too much power. Like weeds/tree roots weakening the foundations of a house until it collapses.

Yes. Freedom of expression as a human right functions as a way of protecting those who may express minority views and/or not in a position to wield power. This rhetoric subverts a fundamental principle. See Restrepo 2012

Or because the “researcher” didn’t read the article, and AI summarised it wrong and thus claims the article says things it doesn’t. So you’re misconstruing people’s arguments in not checking AI’s work and that’s research misconduct on your part.
