Losing a parent is hard, based on what I’ve heard from others. Losing a parent who protected the other abusive parent, then lied about details to make them seem like only a victim, not an enabler, which you found out only after their death, is fucked up and hard. How do you react to sympathy?

It’s not just science & academics. It’s tech too. I was told by a VP once that women just didn’t want senior technical roles, as to why there weren’t any in them. It wasn’t that we didn’t want them, it’s that they didn’t want us. He’s gone, but I know there are still so many that think like that.
