💡 See this nice work by Tetyana Gilevska, exploring how anoxic sediment microbiomes break down naproxen (a widely used painkiller) in coastal areas impacted by wastewater discharge. A good example of how microbiomes at the land–sea interface help mitigate the footprint of pharmaceutical pollution.

What a day yesterday was! 🌟 My PhD student Danijel Jovicic defended his thesis on conductive-particle obligate consortia. It’s been a journey of long days, hundreds of incubations, hours in the anoxic glovebox, and handling cores in anoxic bags on rocking ships. 🛳️ 🌊 Then omics lots of omics! 🧬
