If the new leader is performing better than the previous Prime Minister, because he’s a politician and the previous PM was a Sooty glove puppet for Peter Mandelson and five guys in a trenchcoat: does that not raise questions about how a talentless glove puppet came to be PM?

Trans people weren't segregated 2 years ago, to make just one obvious example to show how Starmer is a lying liar who lies and that's why he's gone. May he spend the rest of his life reflecting on what he has done and stepping on lego every day. Sadly, I doubt either will happen.

Apart from Blair, I can't think of a Labour leader who has done more than Starmer to create division and polarisation. Pandering to Reform on immigration, complicity in genocide, attacks on the right to protest ... Now he presents himself as a great healer. His speech was not "moving" but sickening.

Why is Kemi Badenoch never asked about the hefty funding the Conservative party has taken from the oil industry and its lobby groups whenever she talks about her decision to scrap her commitment to Net Zero?

Yet that kind of ambiguity does not, in fact, characterize the language of Chinese climate policy, which, throughout the "1+N" docu-ments, speaks in starkly unequivocal terms, saying that China "will" do X or "will have done" X by a certain date. This kind of explicit goal-set-ting has a special political import in China, where (at least over the past decades) the CCP has derived some legitimacy from its performance-its state capacity to do what it says it is going to do.2 This performance-based legitimacy is different from procedural legitimacy in the United States, where elected officials may fail to secure their policy priorities, or de-

This from an article that’s nearly a year old and which continues to be a skeleton key for understanding everything about Starmer’s obvious incompetence even in matters of self-preservation:
As an MP, he ran for Labour leader on a leftwing platform and then moved sharply rightwards; depending on your political preference, either a smart strategic move, or what Simon Fletcher, who was a senior adviser to Starmer in his first year as leader of the opposition, told me he now views as a
"massive, massive con"
' He eschews ideology
- "there's no such thing as Starmerism and there never will be. I will make decisions one after the other," Starmer reportedly told colleagues while leader of the opposition - and his detail-focused lawyer's mind leads him to make effective, short-term tactical choices, but also blinds him to the wider consequences of his actions.

My own creed could probably be best described as Deep Ecology, as per Arne Naess. He's only moderately prolific but he's had some real philosophical bangers if you're ever interested. I read Ecology, Community and Lifestyle in my 20s and it changed me.

One of the reasons I've always admired, but stood aside from degrowth is because, culturally, de-greed is a prerequisite. How do we sell sufficiency, and the idea that value should be placed on sustainability and circularity?

Well, here’s the thing about being antiwar as an ethical belief: it means you end up opposing most wars. Almost all of them, in fact. This is quite common in people who have consistent beliefs but looks insane to people who have none, or mostly just believe superior people should make the decisions.
