UNDISCLOSED AI USE - CA used AI to make the new unit cards, they look awful and characters have missing fingers.

Horrific graphical bug makes the vegetation in battle map terrible to look at. There's no way to disable the vegetation.

The campaign map is super oversaturated and hard to look at as well.

New pathfinding bugs. This game sucks. Don't buy it. If you don't have Shogun 2 just don't get it.

Another Negative Steam Review, Screenshot 1/2

I wanted to give CA the benefit of the doubt. I was ready to praise them for not having pre-orders open, not offering pre-order bonuses, for the blood pack being included in the base game (as it should be). IF the game was good. I was hoping that they might want to make amends.

Guess they'll never learn.

I'm not gonna comment on performance, for me the game ran fine, what little I played anyway. The game didn't crash and I didn't encounter any bugs. What DOES grind my gears are two things - how the game looks and how AI generated/upscaled assets have been used without any clear disclosure.

Sure, yeah, ambient weather effects, sun rays and all that, looks nice, but shadows somehow look worse. The colors are out of whack and either too saturated or too washed out. Everything has this weird tint over it, like it's primed for HDR or something. You know what the most used screen type is? 1080p FHD LCD. Not 4k, not HDR OLEDs. Stop building video game visuals around gimmicky tech that most people can't even afford. But whatever.

Another Negative Steam Review, Screenshot 2/2

What's worse is that the game is using AI generated assets - unit cards (which can be confirmed in the in-game encyclopedia) and supposedly the new cinematics as well. Use of AI is not disclosed on the Steam store page. Not only am I refunding this, I am reporting the game to Steam as well. The fact that they did not even check the AI diarrhea before putting this out speaks volumes about the QA (but we already knew that it sucks, didn't we).

De-listing the original game is also such a scumbag move. If I were to get this for free as the owner of the original, I'd still ask for a refund.

Message for CA: Everyone knows you are on thin ice. Everyone knows SEGA is ready to give you the axe unless you start printing money. This is a minimum-effort cash grab to improve your bottom line. If you think that this insulting level of care will fly with either Medieval 3 or WH40k, think again. Get your act together or put the fries in the bag.

Edit: To clarify one thing - yes, the game was developed by MATABOO not CA, but CA signed off on this. They either saw this and went "this is fine," or they didn't see what a mess this game was and shipped it anyway. Malice or incompetence, both cases are bad.
