Kemi Badenoch wants a left-right argument about the economy. She sees an opportunity on identity "against the identity politics of the left and the right" to oppose ethno-nationalism on the right, with a conservative case for high expectations on integration that migrants + minorities can pass
Badenoch says she hopes it too will be referenced, half a century from now, as a guide to her governing philosophy. Her core argument is for a smaller state: spending cuts, reduced deficits and tax cuts. But her support for the pension "triple lock" and calls for higher spending on defence and more prisons capture the electoral difficulty of sticking to a case for a smaller state.

Tory strategists believe they have more chance of emerging as Labour's primary opponent if the focus of British politics moves away from identity and immigration to a left versus right argument on the economy.

Badenoch's pamphlet offers a new triangulation "against the identity politics of the left and the right" to oppose a rising fashion of ethno-nationalism on the right, while making a conservative case for high expectations on integration that it should be possible for migrants and ethnic minorities to pass.

The outpouring of antisemitic conspiratorial bile on the streets of London really shames this City. This is what has been enabled by a political environment that says it's OK to harass and discriminate against Jews - because Jews are a rich and powerful class so you must rail against them

For British Jews, 7 October wasn't just a massacre that started a war, it was the moment the politics of the Middle East were imported to the UK

If I were a member of a political party which wanted to police my choice of place of worship I’d be out the door before you could finish the sentence. But it’s not place of worship, is it? It’s synagogue. Nobody care about my choice of Catholic church. It’s just “the Jews”. As always. Hateful.

What I suspect has happened is that they've run out of bombs, and there's no point in forward deploying your most expensive aircraft if there's nothing to hang on them. It'll suit the USAF to cite "security concerns" at Fairford, rather than say their magazine's empty or their logistics are shit.-
