The promised land – or a land of promises? Burnham delays social care and kiboshes Heathrow on Laura K, all while talking up his 'vision' of Britain The question which the Labour party now wants answering is: how exactly does he intend to get there? spectator.com/article/burn...

Burnham delays social care reform this parliament
The Prime Minister seems to have a clear sense of what he believes is the promised land: even if, at this stage, it seems to be more a land of promises.

Burnham is asked Burnham whether he "loves" being PM: "Well yes, it's obviously hard but I do, I love it for the fact that you can do something to help people... I want the job because of what I can do with the job. And people won’t be in any doubt about what I am trying to do."

It's worth noting that the "Burnham bounce" - before the tough decisions kick in - has Labour at 23-30%. The "Keminaissance" has the Tories at 18-22%. The old social and cultural ties that anchored voters to the two-party system, even when things were rough, just don't exist anymore.
