This week I wrote a Three Act Structure for Book #2, figuring out the general start to finish plot! I also started sketching some characters & told my agents about the new project, who are so excited! We also discussed next steps for my debut's submission:) #queerwriters #writingcommunity #amwriting

Starting a new project is so fucking exciting:') my agents haven't had luck so far shopping my debut around so while it's not over yet it's good to get started on Book #2!! here's a very early sketch of one of the characters! #writingcommunity #amwriting #kidlit #graphicnovels #queerwriters #comics

A drawing of a dark skinned Black teenage girl with a natural hairstyle featuring two top buns, wearing blue glasses, a bright jacket with a hood, long yellow striped socks, a bandaid on her knee, jean shorts and a blue t shirt that says "FANDOM SAVED ME". She's sitting on the floor with her legs crossed, holding an open comic book with one hand, licking a pink lollipop with the other, looking down and reading. The drawing is sketchy and the colors are quite saturated against a white background.

I think in the end, supporting these companies it’s a little like with eating animal produce. Every bit you can cut out of your life helps if a lot of us do it. It’s not necessarily a 0 or 100 thing.

Panel 1: little brown bunny looks out of the window. They say “I wonder”
Panel 2: now they are on a grassy hill looking into the distance. They say “when I will see her again”
Panel 3: bunny is in bed, eyes closed. From outside the panel something says “hey”
Panel 4: bunny has opened their eyes. Looking out the window we see the friend they’ve been longing for is a cute looking moon. Bunny says “there you are”

Ooo, here's my obvious/not obvious one: reading on a regular basis is key to improving your writing skills, probably essential to being a writer at all. you can't skip it. read fanfic or read classics, whatever you want, just keep reading! & read new releases if looking to trabpub #writingcommunity

I got my latest royalty statement and somehow, beyond all reason, people are still buying HOW TO FIND A FOX nearly TEN YEARS!!! after publication. The best way to keep a book in print is by winning an award, and FOX didn't win anything, so thank you for keeping it alive through sheer force of will.

Illustrated cover for the picture book HOW TO FIND A FOX by Nilah Magruder. A Black girl with a backpack and holding a camera peers around, on the lookout for something, while a fox hangs upside down, watching her just above her range of vision.

A screencap of a headline and lede reading: "Spotify hosted brunch ahead of Trump inauguration and donated $150,000 to ceremony
The music streamer held the brunch to celebrate "the power of podcasts in this election"

By
Max Pilley
22nd January 2025"

Below that are photos of Spotify's Daniel Ek and Donald Trump, credited to Greg Nash/Noam Gala/Getty. Daniel Ek is a bald guy in glasses and a white hanes-five-pack looking t-shirt under a blue suit coat that looks like he borrowed it from his aunt six minutes before the photoshoot. It is so ill-fitting that I'm calling my local pharmacy tomorrow morning to see if there's a vaccine that will protect me. Donald Trump, meanwhile, looks, as usual, like if a Lego figurine of Blonde Reagan could get dehydrated enough to make even a seasoned Bonnaroo EMT call for backup.
