Still it’s good to see the Dignity and Respect policy applies to someone in a university. Because things it lists - Transparency! Communication! Responsiveness! Have been very short in supply the past few years. Weaponising it is exactly the tone deafness that is making us all rage. 🧐

The University of Edinburgh is a world-class institution and our members are determined to protect it. With an estimated 1,800 jobs at risk, staff are ready to strike for 25 days to defend jobs and the future of the university. Management can end this dispute: rule out compulsory redundancies.

embracing beerware mindset is the only way to make computers cool again
Engling, for one, wasn't in it for the money. He distributed Opentracker as "beerware," an open-source license guided by the notion that anyone who found it useful should buy him a beer, as he half-jokingly explained in a 2007 talk. "I thought: A lot of people are using BitTorrent, so…."Amid that resurgence, he still sometimes tinkers with Opentracker's code, reenergized by new technical challenges. And just last month, a Spanish anime fan took him out for beers in Berlin to thank him for his contribution to BitTorrent's global infrastructure.
