Learning how to pirate music was evidence of how much we cared about that music. It sucked, but I just can’t fucking relate to people willing to pay a subscription to listen to AI slop. Loser behaviour.

When I transferred those playlists from Spotify to Tidal, there were over 10k songs and I could tell you something about all of them, because I chose them. Why the fuck have people deprived themselves of enjoying music as anything more than background noise? The antidote is giving a shit.

I don’t even understand people willing to let an algorithm pick out music for them. The whole entire appeal of streaming was discovering the hyper specific bands that inspired the music I listened to, the internet made that suddenly easy. I have never relinquished making my own playlists.

I don’t think of myself as “cool” anymore, just “cool for my age”, but MAN, is it abundantly clear that nobody young and cool is going to listen to your slop album, when Iggy Pop is right there waiting to be new again to a bunch of eighteen year olds willing to cancel Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If you listen to AI generated music by choice, you are an incurable loser.

Most design opinions I see on the internet suck, they’re rarely expressed by anyone with credible industry experience as a designer, and they’re not as deep, informed or interesting as they could be. For more than just quippy memes about notorious fonts, there’s Design Theory:

When I was in college, I had to chase dudes away from a girl who passed out on our dorm room sofa. They were just standing over her giggling, it was one of the most sinister things I’ve ever seen. I know it’s not just one girl.

I remember a really frustrating conversation with a generally decent cishet white guy about a news story where a woman was roofied. he went off about wishing he could beat that guy up to avenge her, and I was like "how about start with calling out your friends' sexist tweets?" and he was like 😳

So because the government pays social workers insufficient wages, getting a degree in social work will be a luxury exclusively for those wealthy enough to pay for a degree in cash. What could go fucking wrong.

The rape and pedophile party specifically use transphobia as a wedge to make *all* their intended victims more vulnerable, and Jeff Epstein literally advised them in many, many, many barely literate emails to do this.

I’m still of the opinion that AI is particularly attractive to people who struggle with toxic perfectionism. The tech industry is promising, first and foremost, to help people avoid social faux pas, people who are afraid of embarrassment, people who desire the appearance of control and competence.

A lot of the geopolitics will seem silly, but its wild that Russell imagined in 1996 that workers would view AI companies and their employees as “vultures”, that much of that programming work would be done by vulnerable people, and that it could not replace humans at tasks requiring intuition.

I’m increasingly of the belief that we’ve never truly left the Great Financial Crisis. Everything we’re dealing with today started there, and every excess and problem stems from the US government’s failure to contain or eradicate its causes.

People have the gall to ask “what do you mean ‘rape culture?’” Meanwhile, sorry the cops can’t investigate the gang rape at an Ivy League school, they’re too busy stalking women with Flock cameras, the school administration would rather they didn’t. We mean the “law and order” president is a rapist.

On Anarchism.
"The easiest way to explain anarchism is to say that
it is a political movement that aims to bring about a
genuinely free society - one where humans only enter
those kinds of relations with one another that would not
have to be enforced by the constant threat of violence.
History has shown that vast inequalities of wealth,
institutions like slavery, debt peonage or wage labour,
can only exist if backed up by armies, prisons, & police.

Anarchists wish to see human relations that would not
have to be backed up by armies, prisons and police.
Anarchism envisions a society based on equality and
solidarity, which could exist solely on the free consent
of participants."
