Hey Portland, here’s a “don’t rank” guide from “a group of Portlanders who spend our free time organizing in the community. For years we have worked on grassroots, pro-people campaigns: things like universal preschool, tenant protections, labor union campaigns, funding our schools, and more.”

Portland is getting ready to hire a Chief City Engineer to oversee agency chief engineers and we *need* a person in that role who understands the vital role of trees and green infrastructure and will push PBOT to be a good climate partner

If you can plant a tree in your yard please do and make it a native tree. Bonus points if it is a species that will become a canopy tree. PS remember to water your new tree weekly and deeply 🌳 😀 😉

We need more native plants in public spaces. Natives in parking lots, along and in out into the streets and in our yards. We need to collect rain water into these planted areas. I dream of a future where Portland is green, shaded and cooled by interconnected green spaces, supporting us and wildlife.

Portlanders: DO NOT SIGN THE "SAFER PORTLAND" PETITION!! The want to redirect money away from the Portland Clean Energy Fund and intend to redirect it to expand the Portland Police Bureau by over 1/3. Studies consistently show the truth: more cops does not reduce crime! Reject the police state!

Portland has four Zohrans on city council who are fighting to get the same wins that we’re seeing in NYC. One main difference is that our Mayor, and the business class he represents, actively mobilizes his authority and reactionary networks to oppose us.

On February 19th, the BLM published a Notice of Intent to gut the management plans governing nearly 2.5 millicy acres of these forests across 18 counties. The proposal seeks to eliminate old-growth and wildlife protections to facilitate what the agency calls “maximum" logging capacity.

The stated goal is to accelerate timber harvest to approximately one billion board feet per year. That's four times current levels. It would match the peak production of the 19ous, before the Endangered Species Act existed, before anyone with authority cared whether a spotted owl or a salmon run survived the next decade.

I know there is a ton of stuff happening in our communities around Oregon. If you have a free minute, please write in support of the 1.25% for wildlife bill. This could be huge for our wildlife and their habitats, which are also our habitats! Thanks

Got to spend the weekend with friends and family camping. Such a gift to get out there away from our phones and just eat, swim and chill in a beautiful natural place. This was the swimming hole at our site on the nestucca river in Oregon. Just fucking rad #getoutthere #camping #rivers
Deep swimming hole in the nestucca river. There are rocks up to the edge and then the deep pool with a wall that shoots up behind the river covered in shrubs, ferns, moss and other plants. At the top of the wall there are tall confers reaching towards the sunlit sky.

We simply cannot afford a doom loop for TriMet. Reduction in service will lead to a reduction in ridership, leading to declining fares, more cuts, 🔁 The cost will be increased congestion, further deterioration in PBOT assets and of course emissions. We can’t afford that. Call your state reps.

Portland needs more street trees. I just walked back home through Brentwood-darlington and its ridiculously under-shaded. Homeowners, consider planting a tall tree. Tall trees provide the most shade and the most habitat for wildlife. Bonus points for natives! Portland gives away trees every year!
