Woodcock shooting season starts today in most of the UK (Scotland was 1 Sep). Continental birds have not arrived yet so any shot birds will be red-listed British breeders. GWCT suggests waiting until 1 December before targeting Woodcock. More here: wadertales.wordpress.com/2015/10/26/c... #birds

Interesting article. I’ve seen signs of bad “wild camping”, litter on trails and general human detritus as long as I’ve been venturing outdoors. The abandonment of all the equipment seems fairly new though. - but when you can buy a tent for around £20 it doesn’t really surprise me.

This really is a lovely #rewilding story, with the greatest increase in biodiversity perhaps being the variety of people that are seen on the land. This change from the occasional farmers with machinery to locals, conservationists, volunteers, schoolchildren, hikers, experts, etc. etc.
