More than 30 million ‘hatching game bird eggs’ were imported into the UK over 3 years. That’s more than 2 million kg of eggs recorded in another APHA category. And once those eggs hatch, they can be raised in cramped conditions before being released to be shot.

Birds bred for shooting can travel hundreds of miles before they ever reach a shooting estate. APHA data shows that live ‘game’ birds bred for the shooting industry are imported into the UK from France and Spain.

Very early in the morning, while most people are still asleep in their beds, hunts like the Middleton Hunt are out training hounds to chase foxes before the main hunting season. This drone footage, filmed by the League, shows two foxes desperately trying to escape.

Greyhounds spend most of their lives in kennels, so who is making sure they’re safe & cared for? There is guidance from the Greyhound Board of Great Britain, but it relies on voluntary self-regulation. And the results of licensing inspections & residential kennel audits aren’t publicly reported.
