Whether you’re commencing the work to rule today or not, we’re standing in solidarity with all public sector workers who have been utterly disrespected by this government with continued delays to public service pay talks. Gov must urgently engage with unions in negotiations to avoid escalation.

Google finally updated some of its satellite images of Gaza and my god, it's horrific. The entirety of Rafah has been demolished. The majority of Khan Younis is in ruins. Entire towns completely leveled and erased of the map.

As *tech*, AI isn't exceptional. It's not exceptionally wicked. It's not exceptionally good. Take away the accompanying, galactic-scale stock-swindle, and we'd call AI's apps "plug-ins" and we'd use them and abuse them in the same way that we've used every other technology: www.normaltech.ai 1/

As opposition, our job is to question govt policy. But people often ask us what we would do differently. For our education spokesperson @jencummins.bsky.social it starts with ensuring that no child is an outsider at school. And something else about homework... but we can't make promises on that.

[Scene is an office with OpenAI logo on the wall. SAM ALTMAN is talking to his other founders].

ALTMAN:
Well done guys…
We’ve built a robot that might take everyone’s job, steal all the art,
boil the seas, turn everyone thick, and drag the world into a posthuman nightmare!

FOUNDER 1:
Er - Sam…
Why is that… good?

ALTMAN:
Because if we don’t, then someone else will make it, but be a bit less sad about that.

FOUNDER 1:
Right.
So! What shall we tell the public ahead of the IPO…?

ALTMAN:
Well, I think I should do this face:

[Altman makes his dolorous slow-loris-looking-at-the-ceiling-in-sad-reflection face]

...And then talk a lot about AI destroying the world.

FOUNDER 2:
Yes that’s good that sounds nice.

FOUNDER 1:
And that will make the public give us $60 billion?

ALTMAN:
Ah - here’s the clever bit. Just before the IPO I’ll say…

“Don’t worry everyone, I think I might be talking bollocks.”

FOUNDER 1:
Will they still give us the money?

ALTMAN:
Yes.

[Ends]

Every year, each councillor can allocate €30,000 of public funds for local improvements in their community. This year my allocation was used to fund permanent 5 a side goals in Salthill Park, a bike shelter at Cappagh Park, and other accessibility and safety improvements in the area.

We need to see long term planning of how public money is raised and spent. But FF/FG don't seem interested in anything beyond getting re-elected in the next few years. We’re not in this for easy wins and quick fixes, we’re in it to change Ireland for the better for now, and for the future.

A poster showing three individuals trying to watch a soccer match and the barriers to access that exist. A high fence impacts on what they can see. Equality shows them all standing on the same size box with one child excluded due to her small size. Equity gives them all appropriate sized boxes to allow all participants to view. Justice removes the wooden barrier replacing it with a steel mesh fence allowing them all to view and access without any support
