Throwing some numbers on it - there's about 830,000 Protestants in NI and about 35,000 of them are in the Orange Order - less than 1 in 25 - so Orangeism is not a culture, it's a small minority of a population with very unusual beliefs not typical even within Protestantism.

One of my favourite things about the last few days, is stories from trade unionist, artist, environmentalist circles… when the letter started circulating, people realised they didn’t actually know who was a Prod. Cue hilarious conversations. Happily, that’s how many of us in the north live now.

Dear Mrs Editor,
It's me Ken Early. Using the Early Family Fortune 1 am going to buy The Journal and call it The Earnal and all of the articles will be written by my first born child Kelly Earley. If anyone has a problem with this I will rugby tackle them. I don't care who gets hurt. We are a very rich family and I can pay the judges to say whatever we want.
I want Kelly's first column about Fair City on the website by noon tomorrow.
Yours scrumfully

“They shall not pass.” 90 years ago today, as antisemitism and fascism were on the rise throughout Europe, Oswald Mosley’s racist British Union of Fascists planned a provocative march through the Jewish community of East London.

Their effort at a 'festival' yesterday was derisory. Note the lack of photo coverage it garnered. Two small bouncy castles and a handful of flute players does not a festival make.
