Swedes are particularly bad at this, it feels like. We have a few groups that does things, but it does not feel very effective. I think it's because our education system is privatized to mush and all our state media is a mouthpeice for oligarchs, and has been for a long time.

One Irish person was refused citizenship recently over the language test after a six-year process despite doing the whole thing in Swedish. The same person teaches at university level in Swedish, and has published academic texts in the language.

Records come and records go. But this is one for the ages. The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.23°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This crushes the previous daily record set in 1982 by over 1.14°C. The Climate 8-ball is looking up.
