This is scary. Also, who is it benefiting? I think the journals may have to start meeting authors over a video call to validate submissions. Or academia will have to adopt digital signatures.

cseweb.ucsd.edu/~tzli/novelt... I gave an internal talk at UCSD last year regarding "novelty" in computer science research. In it I "debunked" some of the myth people seem to have about what is good research in computer science these days. People seemed to like it, so I thought I should share.

Excited to share our perspective on cancer therapy response models, "The Hallmarks of Predictive Oncology" doi.org/10.1158/2159... We propose and discuss seven "hallmarks" necessary for clinical adoption of AI models. @bhaibeka.bsky.social #Oncsky #CompBio #AI #ML #PrecisionOncology
The seven hallmarks of predictive oncology. Starting from the top left, in clockwise order, the proposed hallmarks are Data Relevance and Actionability (yellow), Expressive Architecture (blue), Standardized Benchmarking (black), Demonstrated Generalizability (green), Mechanistic Interpretability (orange), Accessibility and Reproducibility (purple), and Fairness (pink), with ethics underlying each of these hallmarks (yellow ring).

There are only 10 hard problems in computer science...
A screenshot of an introductory Python coding tutorial from https://www.schlosslab.org/just-enough-python/. A chunk of Python code demonstrates creating a dictionary with 3 key-value pairs and how to iterate over the keys and values in the dictionary. The printed output shows: "There are only 10 hard problems in computer science: 1 naming things, 2 understanding binary, 3 off-by-one errors". The code is below:

problems = {1: "naming things",
            2: "understanding binary",
            3: "off-by-one errors"}
print('There are only 10 hard problems in computer science:')
for num in problems:
    print(f"\t {num} {problems[num]}")
