Helen’s #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #BirdBuddies - two 'different' bird species sharing the same space. At Sumburgh Head last June, this Guillemot and Shag looked like they were having a ‘stand off’. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to hang around to see what happened next !

I was out all day today so here’s my very late entry of a ringed Rock Dove for today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme which is #Pigeons, any Pigeon will do. That green and purple iridescence on its neck makes it much more attractive than if it was simply grey and black.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay Alt theme chosen by AB is: #FlyingHigh; any bird flying high in the sky I hope this counts, because they were flying high-ish over the sea 🤔Tracking birds in flight is a real challenge for me so I was pleased to get this shot of two Razorbills, and a Guillemot as a bonus.

Two Razorbills are flying across the sea followed by a Guillemot. All the birds are black in colour with white breasts and are light under the wings. The Razorbills have a white stripe on their broad shaped bills whereas the Guillemot’s bill is much thinner.
