Shocked, nay stunned, to discover that Clive Dunn's 1970s novelty number one hit "Grandad" actually merited a Japanese 7" single release.

Japanese cover art for Clive Dunn's "Grandad"showing Dunn in Dad's Army military attire holding a gun in one hand, standing to attention next to some kind of hewn stone monument, possibly a gravestone. The song title is rendered in katakana in a curiously artistic font, as is the name of the B-side. Other Japanese script informs potential local purchasers that the disc is a British number one hit.

germans in the 1930s didnt know the camps and death squads were coming, but they did know that excluding jews from public life was. if youre writing off trans people for "expedience" now, we know what you would have done then, too

manami kakudo is simply the greatest musician in the world it's so obvs why Hosono has trusted her w the marimba ... and water bowl?? in his live band. concerts seem so full of people talking lately but when with Hosono off the stage, Radio City was dead silent for Kakudo and Ikuko. Incredible.

1929 - Bessie Smith - St Louis Blues A standalone performance on set with a story and a cast built around the song, is this the first music video? Cant think of anything with a better claim to the title. Even if you don't think so, what a performance!
