Sometimes a drug trip is a profound experience where you realize that you’ve been carrying pain in your heart for years, that you can forgive yourself. Other times you come up with a concept called “gay money” (money that’s gay) and you text your friend “gay money” days later. Both are healing. ❤️‍🩹

China Miéville On The “Completely Defining” Book It Took 20 Years To Write | Defector
It takes an open mind to engage with China Miéville’s work. A writer for whom the already cliched phrase “genre-bending” is even more banal, Miéville has never opposed the designation of genre writer....

it isn't enought to know that in japan they don't do a three act structure. you need to understand what it means that *you* do, that *you* expect that to be the primary mode of storytelling, and why you ask certain questions of certain pieces and not others.

there is, I believe, a lot of discomfort found by people from the u.s. when, for example, magic exists without a system to it. when religion is not separated by clear lines. when ethnicity and belonging are not neatly segregated, but live side by side in a dialectical relationship

transsexual community needs to develop a single word shorthand that means like “i understand you are being well intentioned but please do not say that fucking shit to me ever again. also you are okay and you’re good. i promise you’re good. you’re good. it’s okay. you’re good.”
