at least once a week i think about my philosophy of cogsci teacher explaining neural networks in 2010 and why they were a dead end for creating human-like intelligence. she wasn’t wrong, it just turned out that industry is highly motivated to sell it as if it is, and there’s so much data available 🤷🏼
