It's a sad thing to see the Professional Record Standards Body essentially being shut down by NHS England. www.digitalhealth.net/2025/09/nhs-... However the PRSB just clearly never seemed to get the memo that they needed to output their standards in a technically usable form (eg openEHR/FHIR)

NHS England to cease funding clinical information standards body
Exclusive: Concerns have been raised that NHSE plans to cease funding the PRSB could stall the digital ambitions in the 10 year health plan.

Absoultely damning Public Accounts Committee report on DHSC and NHS England. publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5901/cm... Staggeringly, NHSE have responded by denial, distraction, and refusal to listen. (Toxic) Culture eats Strategy for breakfast. www.england.nhs.uk/2025/01/nhs-...
The new government sees health as one of its key missions and will present a 10-year plan for the NHS in the first half of 2025. It has set out three big shifts that it wants to see: from hospital to community-based care; from analogue to digital; and from treating ill health to its prevention. These transformations are essential to the NHS’s recovery and future sustainability but saying them is not the same as achieving them. We are concerned about the lack of fresh thinking and decisive action we heard from DHSC and NHSE. The scale of government’s ambitions is great, but senior officials do not seem to have ideas, or the drive, to match the level of change required, despite this being precisely the moment where such thinking is vital.

First up here is Larry Weed's 1971 Grand Round about "Medical Records that Guide and Teach" - this was from a paper era but the problem described still exists in a digital era, in fact some of it is worse. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMsP... Credit to the late Ewan Davis for first showing me this.

The Tories' biggest donor - actually the biggest donor in British politics AFAIK - seems to have changed his name following racist comments about Diane Abbott. And he's given himself a fake knighthood, apparently... Via Private Eye
 PARTING SHOTS

WHAT news of Frank Hester, the £20m Tory party donor and healthcare IT moneybags who got into a lot of hot water earlier this year by saying that Diane Abbott MP made him "want to hate all black women"?

Hester's The Phoenix Partnership (TPP) group continues to make huge profits from its place in a duopoly of suppliers of patient record systems to NHS GP practices. (Its last results showed a £40m profit on £80m of income – see Eye 1619.) But it is to China that it is looking for even more, through its operation in Hangzhou.

Hester is said to be spending a lot of time there and seems to want to put the fuss back here behind him. On TPP's Asia website he has even changed his name and upgraded the OBE he received in 2015, to become Sir Frank Hirst.

All other British executives' names and titles have transferred to the Asian publicity material perfectly, and for some reason TPP didn't want to answer the Eye's questions on the switch. Why might Frank want to show a different persona to the Chinese?
