FLCs are the fastest-growing segment of farm employment, and they are the worst violators of federal employment law in agriculture. They require no special training or certification, despite overseeing a highly vulnerable population of workers whose visas are tied to a single employer.

The Park Service already has an appropriate site for a baseball game at a historic site it oversees in California. A game was recently played at the Manzanar National Historic Site where thousands of Japanese Americans were interned during WWII.

In 2024, the Little Tokyo Giantsplayed the Lodi JACL Templars, the first time the field had been used since the Manzanar camp was closed in 1945.

With that in mind, if MLB is committed to bringing baseball to Wyoming, let me recommend building a field and playing a game at the site of the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center between Cody and Powell. During World War II when Japanese Americans were confined there, Heart Mountain’s team met Gila River in 1944. The all-star teams played 13 games over 15 days to determine the winner.

It would be great to see MLB call attention to the Center and the history it preserves.

Abstract: Monitoring the emotional signals media provides to the public may have important
implications for political attitudes and behaviors. This requires that citizens are able to
perceive the emotional signals which emanate from news programming. I demonstrate
members of the public perceive variation in the emotional intensity of words, concur-
rently validate that survey respondents provide similar emotional ratings for audio and
text news excerpts, and that emotional perceptions of news transcripts are invariant
to partisan predispositions. I then use perceptions of emotions in news transcripts to
analyze the emotions of partisan, prime-time news in the wake of the 2020 US Presi-
dential Election. Members of the public perceive Fox News as angrier than equivalent
programming on MSNBC in the weeks prior to the January 6 attack on Congress. I
also compare my results to a bag-of-words approach, revealing that using only word
counts may mask important emotional di!erences in news environments.

“The Kansas Livestock Association, Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and Texas Cattle Feeders Association are closely monitoring reported U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity affecting agricultural communities in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas.

Our organizations respect the responsibility of federal agencies to enforce the law. At the same time, cattle producers, feedyards, dairies, livestock markets, processors, and other rural businesses depend on a stable workforce to care for animals, protect food safety, and keep the supply chains operating. Sudden workforce disruptions can create immediate animal-welfare, operational, and economic consequences that extend well beyond an individual business. These ICE operations are having a massive chilling effect on the legal, documented, skilled workers that put beef on the table and keep the cattle supply chain moving. Additionally, these types of disruptions will lead to higher beef prices for consumers.

Reported impacts to our organizations throughout the past few days have been:
- Thousands of fed cattle slated for shipping to processors now delayed, resulting in millions of dollars in lost revenue and additional costs.
- Workforce disruptions at numerous supply chain chokepoints such as feedyards, dairies, processors, feed and grain companies, transportation hubs, and community services.

These disruptions come at a time of enhanced focus and pressure on the cattle and beef supply chain. They are a costly and unnecessary impact to cattle producers already suffering from unwelcome political interference to both the markets as well as the physical supply chain. I believe the Rockies will reach the promised land one day. I believe that altitude is not prohibitive to competitive success. I believe that the team will eventually pair good pitching and hitting. But it feels more plausible that the Rockies win a WS than a division title if I'm keeping it 100.
