Amazing how much the same social-emotional health disciplines we teach to children are still so extremely applicable to us as adults.

One of the hardest things I've had to come to terms with is that there really is no punishment for being a terrible person, as long as being terrible leads to professional success. We simply aren't coordinated enough to sanction them. Got to be good just for the fun of it.

My library is now cutting Sunday hours because budget constraints mean they can't fill open positions and that means they aren't able to staff Sunday shifts. Municipal budgets are in dire straits right now, and libraries are being hit hard.

Another illustrative account of how highway traffic enforcement works as a means of 'top of funnel' intake into ICE. "Nearly all of the arrests happened in Indiana, a state known as America’s crossroads that’s traversed by 13 interstate highways."

While we don’t have a smoking gun yet, there is reason to believe that earlier this year the Trump admin ordered USCIS to arbitrarily cap the number of immigrants who can become citizens each month. Backlogs in the naturalization process are now skyrocketing.

Brazil is firmly in the crosshairs of the Trump administration and Big Tech, who are trying to destroy its democracy via their preferred presidential candidate. In response, millions are taking to the streets in support of President Lula. One of the most inspiring efforts I have seen in many years.

people say they're tired of the horserace and want policy. so you give them policy. and then the numbers come back and show the audience is, by far, most interested in 2028 horserace. 🤪

Yes. Horserace coverage can be placed alongside rapid inflation and xenophobia in a category called "things that we're realizing are chemically toxic for democracy but we're still trying to look for an antidote"
