Hard not to notice that Democrats who are doing the best are the ones who are leaving this whole civility-and-norms, we-go-high, we-need-a-strong-Republican-Party bullshit behind and are simply giving Republicans exactly what they all ought to get at all times, which is undisguised contempt.

It's incredibly weird that so many people demonize socialism when socialism is what so many aspire to in retirement. Medicare (ideally) = not having to worry about medical payments after retirement age. Social security (ideally) = universal basic income after retirement age.

The thing about this is that as a Paxton campaign gambit it's incredibly stupid and more likely to backfire than help...but as a play within GOP-aligned media it's surely a big success. The GOP has many problems, but a key one is that way too many party actors aren't driven by electoral incentives.

The discourse on antisemitism in the country is such that Mike Rogers can simultaneously attack Abdul El-Sayed *as* antisemitic, as a scary foreign Muslim critic of Israel, and also *with* antisemitism, as a tool of the foreign-born Jewish puppeteer.
"LEAKED: Footage of Abdul El-Sayed fundraising last night in the California home of the far-left Soros family.

Abdul’s education was paid for by the Soros family and NOW they are funding his campaign to make him a U.S. Senator

The Soros family is funding Abdul because he will carry out their agenda of:

➡️ defunding the police
➡️ emptying prisons, and letting violent criminals & sex offenders back onto the streets
➡️ gender transition surgeries for minors
➡️ allowing illegals to vote in American elections

Abdul is too extreme for Michigan."

This "Talarico was at a mental health institution" just took off, based on nothing. Here is the former US Ambassador to Germany, and acting Director of National Intelligence, talking about something he knows nothing about: shame. They will admit no error, b/c they keep being rewarded for lying.

In case you aren't knee-deep in the latest MAGA conspiracy theory, this is a response to the "bombshell" that James Talarico spent the past week-plus secretly seeking treatment at an Ohio mental health facility, and a GOP operative broke the case with a late-night phone call.

One (bloody) silver lining to ICE's egregious behavior and equally egregious lying, is that perhaps the public as a whole--and hopefully the media at a bare minimum--will increasingly accept that police are not "just-the-facts-maam" objective sources.

Remember: ICE lied so often about people posing threats to them, to justify their violence in Chicago, that a Chicago federal judge wrote it was "difficult, if not impossible, to believe almost anything" ICE said. Do you know what it takes to get a Fed district judge to WRITE THAT in a ruling?

for as long as i've been alive, republicans have ran the same playbook: a few weeks before voting begins, they roll out completely fabricated smear campaigns. these things are always coordinated, so the talking points take over the news. the party is never electorally punished for their dishonesty.

Low-hanging fruit for reporters and Dem trackers: ask a Republican running for office, "what would you do if you were in a car with your child and men in hoodies charged at you with guns drawn?" Follow up with "do you think it's reasonable for a parent in that situation to use lethal force?"

Trump said today that he may change the name of the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean to “Trump Ocean”. You'd think he's just trolling but since he's regularly "renaming" bodies of water, he may actually do it. It's one of his dumber stunts but he seems to really enjoy making his stooges go along with it.

This is Nazi rhetoric, full stop. It's not only a call to instigate a race war in the United States, but it's reminiscent of historic European justifications used to incite pogroms against Jews. People who say things like this are incredibly dangerous, as there is nothing they won't eventually do.

3) the only logical argument here is if insurance companies are signing up fake customers and then taking the government subsidies for that coverage, while paying out no claims. IF that is happening, it would be business/corporate fraud, not consumer fraud.

A couple quick observations here, which should be obvious. 1) insurance “risk pools” work by requiring younger/healthier people who make few or no claims to sign up and pay premiums alongside older/less healthy people who do, essentially covering their costs.

Texas shattered energy demand records this summer. Here's why the grid held up.
Texas repeatedly broke electricity demand records this summer, but ERCOT avoided emergencies as booming solar and battery capacity helped keep the grid stable.

We should try having some group of people who get to vote on approving agency heads like OMB director.

Sen. Susan Collins

@SenatorCollins
Without warning or consultation, Congress just received an $810 million package of pocket rescissions from the Administration. This is the most recent attempt by this Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to undermine Congress’s Constitutional power of the purse.

This move shows that OMB intentionally withheld these funds for months to execute this unlawful cancellation of appropriations that were approved on a bipartisan basis and signed into law.

Not only is the delay itself an impoundment that was not reported to Congress, but also it is a usurpation of Congress’s appropriations powers. OMB is an agency of the executive branch. It does not get to decide which programs are worth funding.

The independent Government Accountability Office has concluded that pocket rescissions are unlawful and not permitted by the Impoundment Control Act. Any effort to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval is a clear violation of the law.

I will work with my colleagues to address these illegal actions.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.
