People keep repeating this number as though it represents a poll of Michigan Jews. It does not. There has been no poll of Michigan Jews. It’s literally just a number one member of one synagogue board pulled out of their head. (www.thefp.com/p/they-were-...)
Tweet from Eyal Yakoby: “BREAKING: Jewish Leaders currently estimate that 70% of their Congregants will vote against Abdul El-Sayed.

So the whole thing has led to the days of a whisper campaign on the right being debunked; & conservatives turning on one another. Meanwhile, Talarico is recovered from the flu and back on the campaign trail.

Elon Musk amplified the conspiracy theory, leading to a lot of right-wing frenzy. The Ohio facility, a small institution no doubt suddenly inundated by calls and harassment, finally said tonight that this is all false.

The campaign of educational censorship sweeping Texas and other GOP-governed states in the name of “free speech” and “diversity of viewpoint” in many ways exceeds the worst of the McCarthy Era (gift link obvs) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
You have to go back to the loyalty oath cases of the Cold War period to see relatively analogous situations where the government was trying to silence academics with viewpoints that they didn’t like,” Emerson Sykes, an attorney with the ACLU, told me. “But even in those cases, we did not see the sort of brazen attempt to ban particular ideas or ideologies and scrub them from the public record or from public education.”

The right is lying. Again. And saying Talarico was in a mental facility for two weeks. That the hospital confirmed it. But that would be a HIPAA violation. False flag, but sadly some will believe it. Talarico had the flu.

After years of championing "free speech," Texas lawmakers have enabled a dramatic rise of censorship in Texas universities, banning concepts, canceling courses and closing departments seen as "woke," and even using AI bots as censors. All in the name of freedom. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...
In other professors’ syllabi, the bot flagged the Pulitzer Prize–winning play Angels in America by Tony Kushner, essays by the Mexican American MacArthur genius grant recipient Sandra Cisneros, and materials related to a class about the Holocaust (that professor was told to drop material regarding Nazi persecution of LGBTQ people).

Putting aside the ideological slant of the new rules, the bot, like many large language models, seems to “hallucinate,” or make mistakes. The AAUP lawsuit lists texts banned for their “sex-based ecofeminist framework” and “gendered ecofeminist frameworks.” These phrases might sound persuasively like academese, but the academics behind the lawsuit had never heard of them; these concepts “do not exist,” the complaint says. Matthew Pehl, a history professor at Tech, told me that he knew several people who’d received reports from the system that were “plainly written by an AI that had hallucinated content or confused content from one class to another.”

A new Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology has just been published, in which it is claimed that the human species is polytypic: not only is race biologically meaningful but the races are distinct enough to be considered subspecies. Published by Elgar. In 2026.
Chapters in Part III take stock of the current state of evolutionary psychology, by casting wider attention to other social and behavioral sciences and assessing the field's influence on them. In Chapter 11 ('Evolutionary psychology and anthropology'), Heiner Rindermann identifies three major forces that oppose scientific anthropology: Religion, National Socialism ('Nazism'), and woke leftist ideology. Ironically, in this sense, woke left ideologues, who include most anthropologists themselves, geneticists, and other university academics, share much in common with the Nazis in their common opposition to scientific anthropology.
Rindermann's extensive review of the literature leaves no doubt that humans are genetically polytypic and contain different biological races or 'subspecies' At the end of the chapter, Rindermann delivers devastating rebuttals to all potential arguments against the notion of races/subspecies among humans.

16/ That’s Hungary’s warning, and its lesson. Elections can remove the ppl directing propaganda. They can’t instantly undo years of fear, captured institutions, or damaged professional judgment. Defending democracy means protecting independent journalism now & rebuilding what political control broke

12/ Even journalists who welcomed liberation struggled with responsibility. Under the old system, managers decided what could run. Now reporters had to make their own calls and stand behind them. Some still feared publishing perfectly legitimate stories. Political control had become a habit of mind.

9/ Those pages matter because propaganda isn’t always a politician barking orders on camera. It can be an editor quietly killing a story, a manager removing a name, or a reporter learning which facts are too dangerous to print. Eventually, people stop waiting for orders. They censor themselves.

3/ Three days later, the tension exploded. At a staff meeting, reporters asked whether censorship and political instructions would finally stop. Their news director, Zsolt Németh, insisted the old system was merely “editorial freedom.” Then a pro-Orbán reporter confronted a colleague in the café.
