Among preterm newborns, initiating resuscitation with FIO2 of 0.6 vs 0.3 did not change risk of death or major brain injury at 36 weeks’ corrected age in a multinational RCT. bit.ly/4rCO0og
JAMA study on newborn resuscitation. Population: 797 females, 672 males, 23-28 weeks gestation. Intervention: 1469 newborns randomized. Findings: FIO2 of 0.6 showed 46.9% rate of death/brain injury, FIO2 of 0.3 showed 47.8%. No significant difference in risk.

Phenomenal. In my 10 year update of A Brief History, I make the point that in the first edition, not one disease had been successfully treated using gene therapy. Today that number is at least 7.
