I recently learned that there's 19K people driving daily on this road, and ~60K bus riders daily! Def seems like more space should be going to buses than cars given there are 3X more riders. Kudos to Hudson County for pursuing this project, it could be the largest BRT in the country outside of NYC.

Earlier this month, yet another serious preventable crash happened on our city streets. SafeStreetsJC releases the following statement calling for rapid, low-cost quick-build improvements to all our serious and fatal crash locations, including left-turn calming and leading pedestrian intervals.

On Friday, August 7th at Montgomery & Barrow, yet another left-turning driver hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk in downtown Jersey City, leaving the pedestrian in critical condition. We pray for their quick and full recovery. Last year, at Jersey & 6th and Summit & Sip, two vulnerable road users were killed last year by left-turning vehicles that did not yield. The continued level of injuries of vulnerable road users is unacceptable under Jersey City’s commitment to Vision Zero.

Over a year has passed and no progress has been made on addressing these and other fatal and serious injury crash locations with quick builds and improved street design. Leading pedestrian intervals and banning left turns at key intersections can be done immediately at little cost, if any, to Jersey City; until changes are made, dangerous intersections continue to be dangerous with no relief in sight.

Considering the level of danger on our streets, the time for more studies, more explanations, and more delays is over. We call on Jersey City to get things done and release its plan to reduce injuries at fatal and serious injury intersections, calm left turns, and promote safer, alternative modes of transportation with improved bus priority and building protected bike lanes.

Oh this is nice they have the Hoboken-WTC service on the weekends. They rotate every 10 min with the Newark trains. That means service every 10 for Exchange Pl to the city. Thanks to the hard work of the @hudcostreets.org activists.
