New York's train cars and buses are manufactured in the United States, but they rely on loads of components manufactured all over the world.

This man. Holed up all day outside a cafe, nursing the same beer or coffee-flavored coffee for 8 hours. An asylum seeker. We forced the fellas back to the rolling pin. The political consequences will reverberate for generations.

If you pay NJ property taxes (that is, if you live here--own or rent), you should care about this. When State Health Plan premiums spike, your taxes spike. Happened to me in Glassboro. Borough Council specifically cited their workers' health benefits to justify a big tax raise one year.

I get to post about it 1st: NJ finally voted to raise premiums for its State Health Benefits Plan. Expect another round in the death spiral. Gov Sherrill's campaign rec'd reference-based pricing (RBP): cap hospital prices at a % of what Medicare pays. Strangely, the legislature is not acting.

Reading Camus's The Stranger for the 1st time since high school. Some say Meursault is autistic but idk, he just seems like a friendly nihilist, a more agreeable Patrick Bateman. He even talks about just wanting to fit in.

I'm a proud Prospect subscriber, but they could be a little less glib about AI's benefits. This person says AI makes them more productive & "The Prospect"'s responses are "So?" & "Learn 2 Code." I agree w/ the points about enforcing existing law. This part is just goofy:

1st off, $34 B in 2018 is $45 B today. So the Q is: do i feel $16 B better off today than in 2018? And the answer is, kinda. If $16 B got us out of the pension debt crisis, fully funded education & transit, then yeah, I'm fine with the cost. www.nj.com/politics/202...

Republicans, in their infinite wisdom, left a big gambling loophole in the Medicaid work requirements. I'm no fan of the gambling industry, but if you are on Medicaid and struggling to deal with the work requirements, taking a $580 bet on both sides of an outcome is one way of getting around them.

NJT's low subsidy ended up with the agency raiding capital budget to pay for operations for YEARS. Guess what happens when you neglect long-term maintenance and equipment replacement? Also note the budgets have no inflation adjustment. 2024 budget is LOWER than 2020 when inflation adjusted
