Just some guy, you know? @infinite-loopy.bsky.social · 15/04/2026the EX4600 is the heaviest switch it has ever been my displeasure to install to a full size rack with the same method you're using here that switch is the one that helped me learn that I always want to put the first switch in at the lowest mount point so that holding each successive switch is easy 000
Antonín Dach @freed00m.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Getting it in so easy. But getting them out? That is always tricky with just fingers. I almost always cut myself and leave a blood mark on the rack. 130
Siivosen Hannu @siivosenhannu.bsky.social · 15/04/2026I was half expecting the recommendations to be for babys to insert cage nuts 000
Stefan • 🇺🇦 •📯 @stefan2008.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Fixing the bottom screws first, you can skip the top ones on 1U devices. Never had a problem with only 2 screws per 1U switch. Okay, I wouldn't fix a 6509 with just two screws either. Not having your hair done is only a problem if it gets caught under the screws. 010
WinterKnight @winterknight.net · 15/04/2026Idk why people would be upset at the way you did that first switch, that’s the way I’ve always racked my switches? 010

Shane Blaufuss, CISSP @shaneblaufuss.com · 15/04/2026Also please don't take this the wrong way but that is a great rack! I'd love to have space for that! 100
Adam @furbism.com · 15/04/2026As prophesied, I’m here with the one true cage nut tool: www.racksolutions.com/cage-nut-tool… 370
Scooter @scooterrific.me · 15/04/2026IDK what you mean with that first switch. You prob installed it better than I would. 000
Mike Trinder @chthonicionic.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Nothing like the sound of a cage nut pinging off and dropping into the inaccessible depths of the rack :( 0110
securewaffle.bsky.social @securewaffle.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Yay! Racking the lab day is always fun 000
Alfred @alfredivy.sg · 15/04/2026I cannot believe your racked them top down. Always rack the bottom most switch first. It can be located mid way in the rack or wherever. Use that bottom most switch as your table and move upwards. 100
Ken Hollis @gandalfddi.github.io · 15/04/2026Not to Mansplain ...but I didn't see cross torque ... 000
CJ @mateloos.be · 15/04/2026Racks is fun, but indeed some nuts can be big pita's. Lucky you these went so smooth! 🤞 Using my racks for audio gear: fx, convertors, patchbays,… When the units are lightweight, I may only use the lower nuts since they are what the whole weight of the unit hinges on 🤭 000
Kw1q51|v3r_Vorian | 是妳教我和平示威是沒用 @kw1q51lv3r.vorian.online · 15/04/2026Feels like witnessing diabolical occultism seeing you put your equipment into a rack top-down instead of bottom-up but also tbf ive never been comfortable with equipment racks only being held in place by those little lips in the front Anyway who else up caging they nuts 000
Name_Too_Long @nametoolong.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Cage nuts, without bleeding? What manner of witchcraft is this?! 020
