i am counting 14 seconds between the first sign that the sprinklers are going off and the stadium DJ hitting play on "Umbrella." elite performance, that's why that DJ made it all the way to the WCWS

Electrical problems, sprinklers, is this sheer incompetence of the venue or actual misogynistic sabotage?

That's some next-level synch, though. Did they practice that timing or was it a happy accident? 😊

I would like somebody to write an in-depth longform about heads-up stadium DJing sometime; my pal @senatorjohn.bsky.social did some truly amazing things as red sox/patriots DJ and 1) I want him to get his props but also 2) I have an endless hunger for moments like this. Such a kickass skill.

I mean, this was dramatized in Major League 2, but that was a cart system, you can be even faster now with digital music

I would have chosen “It’s Raining Men” but it’s probably a generational thing.

It’s like the 5 second mark of the video when they show the sprinklers, and about the 11 second mark you can hear the drums for “Umbrella” start up, so that DJ was Johnny on the spot

As someone who previous had this job for a few years at that stadium - including one WCWS - thank you for noticing. We are the hidden heroes of American collegiate sports.
