Something fun I learned (although it's from an older book): you can buy and grow poppies, including the kind that produce opium. But DEFINITELY DO NOT harvest the seed pods, brew them in hot water, and make opium tea: that's illegal ... in theory.
(Also, opium tea is perfectly safe)
