I'm very disappointed to learn that WIRED had shut down Made in China, the newsletter my editor Louise and I created together. We published 52 issues in the past year, broke a ton of exclusives, had immense fun, and built a voice that truly care about China, the good and the bad.

I have been using Apple Map with navigation voice set in Mandarin in the past few weeks. Siri could not pronounce numbers in Mandarin right lol. It'd say Route 21 as something like "ao-yao," which has become a running joke in my family.

Today the Court only issued a decision in case number 4: Blanche v. Lau. A 6-3 decision declares that green card holders returning from trips abroad may be deemed "applicants for admission" in some situations, despite their permanent resident status, via a rapid decision by a frontline CBP official.

I talked to Zhou Yong, founder of the leading Chinese humanoid robotic hand maker LinkerBot 灵心巧手. It shipped 10k hands in 2025 for as low as $600 each. Zhou predicts that in the future, a humanoid robot will cost less than a smartphone and eventually replace every worker.
