Martin @zenfrii.gg · 01/10/2026Did I just finish a playthrough of Satisfactory? Sure. Did they just announce a new expansion with this creepy cutie in it? Yep Guess I'm coming back to streaming. Eventually. 😁 000
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 01/10/2026On the plus side, you should be able to export them in a format that Libre Office can read, so while it doesn't fix the online availability problem, that's at least a good option for archiving. 020
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 01/10/2026I technically still have the Gmail account, I'm basically moving services over one by one as I remember they're tied to the Google account. It's slow, but not painful. Docs are the main pain point if you use it heavily, Proton's offering isn't as robust, but I wasn't heavily relying on Google docs 220
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 01/10/2026Also good to be aware of takeout.google.com, which let's you do nice all-in-one exports of your account data by application.takeout.google.comSign in - Google Accounts 010
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 01/10/2026Open source alternatives I'm running right now on a Docker host in my closet: - Immich for a Google Photos replacement - Memos for Keep/notes app replacement - Home Assistant for household automation without Google Assistant Also switched over to Proton for mail/calendar/docs 250
Reposted by Martinthiiird person @thiiirdperson.com · 01/10/2026I'm so close and also pretty damn far away. I need some support today if you can spare it. My birthday is on Monday and all I want for my birthday this year is to keep the house long enough to find a job that can pay for it. Shares help too! Thanks for being here for me. 045
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 30/09/2026Since there's a fucked up version of it making the rounds right now thanks to the feds new AI bullshit, figured I'd share the actually good original. This is The End Poem by Julian Gough. It plays at the end of Minecraft. It's very good. en.wikisource.org/wiki/End_Poemen.wikisource.orgEnd Poem - Wikisource, the free online library 010
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 30/09/2026Have you ever wanted to read The End Poem from Minecraft, but all fucked up with nationalist propaganda? America(dot)gov has you covered. 030
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 25/09/2026Look I like the Wolves and Lynx as much as any Minnesotan does, but if these rich owner fucks ask for public money to build a new stadium while we're having conversations about cutting park funding and closing schools I'm going to lose my shit. 15110
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 17/09/2026Democratic leadership would like you to know that you should be mad at the president and not at all blame them for entirely capitulating to his demands. Fucking fascists and cowards, the lot of them. 022

Martin @zenfrii.gg · 09/09/2026The Lowry used to make a buffalo chicken nacho style appetizer, nothing too fancy just shredded chicken, blue cheese, buffalo sauce, and some chives over kettle chips. I can of course make this myself but there was something about getting it at the bar after a show that was special. 020
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 09/09/2026Cause, to your point, all this sort of ad does is make people like me feel gross about voting for them at best, or abstain at worst. 010
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 09/09/2026Makes one wonder if they might be interested in finding a different base... 100

Martin @zenfrii.gg · 09/09/2026The real question is: will the developers on your team who care about the work leave on their own, or will you lay them off? 010
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 09/09/2026Oh yeah. AI is for sure the answer to increasing productivity on your tech team. It certainly couldn't be something like actually updating tickets in a timely manner, or writing decent specifications to build to. Certainly the productivity loss is the developers fault. 250
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 01/09/2026The DNC needs new leadership at every level. This is laughably weak in the face of the current attempt at a full fascist takeover of the country. 0123

Martin @zenfrii.gg · 30/08/2026I remember back in the old days when I was sad to see Google services die, now I'm just trying to get them out of my phone. 000
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 28/08/2026We considered making a fuss over that clause and a few others but ultimately signed after pointing out all the issues to the leasing office and being told it's just their standard form. The whole thing was riddled with typos and misspellings and honestly probably not enforceable. 010
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 28/08/2026My favorite (harmless) version of this was the apartment I rented a while back had a clause that prohibited "any flammable materials" from being left unattended. Like... What, everything I own needs to be flame resistant? Sheesh 191

Martin @zenfrii.gg · 21/08/2026The fact that this company is immediately involved in the new concentration camp they're opening in MN should be enough for no local government of any moral dignity to engage with them at all. 040
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 19/08/2026That's a fair reflection. The place I land, if we're setting aside the environmental racism of it all, is: LLMs are a fine tool for dev work when the developer is still responsible for the actual code output. Once you surrender composition to it, you start losing skills and quality. 020
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 19/08/2026And actually writing the code is often where devs do the thinking. A lot of it is thought through in specifications (in a perfect world) but there's always details to sort out in the actual coding. Ceding that to an LLM feels like not thinking through the problem. 110
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 19/08/2026I like this framing. Anecdotally: I have seen the work quality of every developer I know who uses AI heavily decline rapidly the last year or so. Impact might well not be limited to learning new skills, but also retaining known ones. 130
Martin @zenfrii.gg · 19/08/2026This works out great. A bunch of cash and I get to spend the next year generally vibing with friends while we solve puzzles and go for a Big Walk? Hell yeah 020
