What a sh*tty place the USA seems to have become. The UK had become polarised, but this is out of control. At least some people are getting restitution, of sorts. Assassination is not, cannot be, a remedy. As for Kirk... a) he was truly evil b) and I'm glad he's dead. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Am I being too cynical? This feels like a money-grabbing exercise. She needs to quantify what she wants, and why. And then she can justify her claim. I mean, slavery was truly awful. But is the UK being singled out as a soft touch, willing to give in to anybody. news.sky.com/video/its-be...

Heartbreak & laughter are perhaps the most appropriate responses to any suggestion the UK has a free press. But the ideal could come a step closer to reality, thanks to a campaign to wrest the national news media from the grasp of Murdoch, Viscount Rothermere & other tax-shy non-resident oligarchs

www.theguardian.com/music/2026/a... My first ever CD. I was given it by a friend who said he didn't like it. What a philistine! Meantime, I didn't yet own a CD player. When I finally got play it, I was totally, utterly blown away. It remains one of my favourite and most-played albums.

I’m fed up with politicians saying we need to “respect” the result of the 2016 Brexit referendum. A decision by a narrow majority 10yrs ago, that turned out to be a costly mistake, does not have to be “respected”. If a democracy cannot change its mind it ceases to be a democracy.

Trump Attacks Iran. How Operation Epic Fury unfolded… The new Private Eye is out now.
A photo of the front cover of issue 1670 of Private Eye magazine, with the caption “on shelves now.” The main headline reads “TRUMP ATTACKS IRAN,” with a subheading “HOW OPERATION EPIC FURY UNFOLDED.” The cover features four photo panels set in the situation-room with US political figures seated around a table. Speech bubbles add dialogue: “Is the Supreme Leader dead?” followed by “No, Trump always looks like this!”; “Mission accomplished!” answered with “Yes, I’ve killed the Epstein story”; “What happens next?” with the reply “Popular revolt and regime change,” and a follow-up, “In America?”; and finally, “Why have you started this war?” answered with “So that I can stop it,” alongside “I’ll ring the Nobel Committee.”
