I used to work near this performer's main station, what a voice. Go to New York just once if you can and take the train every time. The shared space there is what knits all of us together as more than a community or neighbors but like a massive extended family.

When Lucia arrived, roughly 25 minutes later, it was without knocking, using her key and then sweeping into the studio holding her phone in the air ahead of her, screen facing out like a talisman.

“What the actual fuck am I looking at here?”

Zelda barely glanced up from the book she was not actually reading. Lucia was more fun when you played with her a little. “Hey babe—dunno, what are you looking at?”

Lucia tossed her hair over her shoulder in a huff, flinging her purse down and then dropping onto the couch between it and Zelda, landing practically in her lap. She pushed the phone between Zelda and the book.

“This, you horrible creature, this! Were you ever planning on telling me that you chatted up Henry Alden last night?!”

Okay, any more teasing and Lucia was going to hit the part of her vocal register where she sounded like a hysterical tea kettle. Zelda closed the book and glanced at the phone.

It was open to YouTube, with the clip of her conversation with Henry paused at the halfway mark. It was frozen right around the part of the interview where Henry had started to get the upper hand, with the tiny video version of Zelda pink-cheeked and open-mouthed as the tiny video version of Henry beamed at her, almost adoringly.

Regular sized Zelda felt her cheeks begin to flush in sympathy with her miniature double.

“Ohhhhhh okay, okay, I can literally see you blushing, what the fuck, Zelle?”

Zelda shook her head. “No, it’s just—he’s—it’s just an interview, he’s good at interviews, he’s been doing these asinine step and repeat Q&As since he was what, like 10? When did the first Wyldmere movie come out, like late ‘90s? He’s a professional at this, and he’s an actor—it was just part of the bit.”

“Urrrrrgh,” Lucia grabbed a throw pillow and buried her face in it, groaning dramatically. Zelda patted her sarcastically on the back until she resurfaced, tousled and maybe sincerely furious this time?

“Don’t change the topic, you always do this, you’re very clever, we’re all aware, but please, just this once, humor me and tell me what happened!”

So Zelda did. Not that there was really anything to talk about that wasn’t recorded in full stereo and color in the video itself.

Lucia, to no one’s surprise, was left absolutely unappeased by this.

“Wait—so that was it? You didn’t meet him before? You didn’t find him after? That was it?”

Zelda shrugged. “Dunno what you want me to tell you, hon—it was just an interview. He’s seen the web series, he probably just figured I’d be up for a little fake flirting because of that?”

Lucia goggled at her. Zelda raised her eyebrows defiantly back at her in response. Lucia groaned again.

“See, this is why I keep trying to get you to go on actual dates, it’s like your women’s intuition for attraction or chemistry or something is broken or I don’t know, fucking rusted over from lack of use? That? That is not fake. Absolutely not.”

God, those fucking murderous butterflies were back again, wings flapping relentlessly and making her stomach churn.

Zelda stood up and headed over to the fridge. “Sauv Blanc okay with you?”

“Obviously!”

Desperate, she accepts the task as her last chance to show the Mother she deserves a place as her daughter.

Allowed only the help of another excommunicated criminal, a surly, aged tracker named Sonsan, and facing an assassin who could be anyone, she dreads she has lost her chance to return home before she has even left. Elise Clarke

One of the first arrivals of the refugee world of Terra-Renatus and member of the colonial militia. Elise Clarke looks to build a new stable life for herself and her adopted sister. Which is made all the more difficult by the trauma she endured on her war torn homeworld 8 years earlier. Her new life is turned upside down when Molzren pirates attack the Colony in a attempt to abduct the Empress' cousin. The kidnapping is thwarted by Clarke's heroic actions which leads to her being enlisted into the Royal Navy by Captain Lan Rigoc. The first human to be given the honor. Setting her on a new adventure.

The Pitch
Stetson was built for survival. After two decades of blending in with the straight boys and enduring his father's relentless prepper training, he's better prepared than most when the ENVI-24 pandemic becomes the zombie apocalypse in a matter of months. Stetson saves the only other survivor at his parents bunker settlement-a tween girl with a mouth full of braces, a judgy attitude, and a Bible. In a desperate search for community to help raise Harper, he makes his way to Queen City, killing zombies and dodging a zealous preacher bent on collecting women and children for his compound.
Meanwhile, the dentist ambles across Queen City with a group of zombies eager for fresh flesh.
While raiding his dentist's abandoned office for supplies, Stetson encounters Dove. She looks so good that she might just be a trap set by the Preacher, so Stotson zip-ties her first and asks questions later. All that might even be fine with Dove if it weren't for the fact that she's got Vivvi, her OG apocalypse protector back at their functioning community. If Stetson wants to join them and have help raising Harper, he'll have to prove his zombie-killing worth and move past that whole handcuffing thing. Oh, and also avoid getting exterminated as a threat to the Preacher's regime and the dentist's growing horde.

Jim, his blond hair set aflame not by Kontrolle or diffuser but by the sun’s fleeting gift, stared back, waiting. Unlike Etienne, the King Reluctant, Jim had never been told he was the best. Unlike Six, the King Desirous, Jim had never needed to be the best. Unlike Bash, the King Apparent, Jim had never been the best.

Jim’s calling, his compulsion, was to be of use. That is all he had ever needed, wanted, or been. And it was Bash, now, to whom he wished to be useful.
