I've edited 40-some pages today and the number of typos I've found are unreal.
Or maybe not. This is Draft 2 of the book and most of the writing is unedited besides the quick glance I do after finishing a chapter.

If you can, use Chapter 1 to set up the whole book.
Introduce who the POV character knows. Set up their first goal and their life. Let the reader know where the story is taking place. And foreshadow your ending if possible.
