We're not suffering a breakdown of the social fabric because we've lost the ability to have reasonable disagreements with each other; we've lost the ability to have reasonable disagreements because some people are trying to deliberately rend the social fabric.

A key component of the Cambridge Analytica outrage was your friends subjecting you to data theft without your consent or knowledge. Facebook is running the same playbook on your text messages. Even if you’re not on Meta properties, they’re ingesting your interactions.
Aten installed Muse on both his iPhone and a Mac mini that he uses to test out various Al agents and tech. It took Meta a single day to begin "helpfully" pitching article ideas based on texts he'd sent to a podcast co-host.
When he asked Muse how it got the information, it said that it read banners from incoming texts. But that's not true, either.
After doing a little digging, Aten says Muse synced 187,000 lines from his Messages database, despite Full Disk Access being Off.Unless Aten is the most popular person on the face of the planet, I sincerely doubt he'd gotten 187,000 lines of text in roughly 24 hours. What happened is that, without permission, Muse went into the app and downloaded the information.
He had not given Muse permission to access Messages, and full disk access was not enabled. It just went ahead and uploaded those texts anyway.
Muse can take "unexpected actions" indeed.

Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that

Na the actual revealed preference is a McMansion in the equivalent of a street car suburb that’s like a 5-10 minute drive to the city center. We can determine this as neighborhoods like this are the most expensive in the country on a cost per sq ft basis.

Thinking about it
China, average exam score between January 2023 til June 2025, average without AI = 100.
(26811 pupils aged 12-18 analyzed. Source: "The generative AI learning penalty: evidence from Chinese secondary education", by D. Strömberg et al., preprint June 2026)

The image depicts a graph plotting two lines, gray (Never used AI) with red (Using AI). The X axis is labeled "Homework score, average without AI = 100". The Y axis is "Exam score".

The gray line (Never used AI) plots a relatively linear growth path, meaning that those who do well at homework also do well at exams. This gray line also goes past the average score of 100, reaching around 110 at the peak.

Conversely, the red line (Using AI) plots a striking downwards bend: those who use AI do extremely well at homework, reaching a score of around 130, but do abysmally at exams, with a score of 60. The red line also never intersects the average score, meaning that between the AI users, even the best exam grades are below average.
